Checking into the Holiday Inn Express at the United Football League’s hub in Arlington for his first taste of spring football, San Antonio Brahmas quarterback Chase Garbers found that his hot water didn’t work. Nearly a week passed before he had access to a warm shower at the team hotel, and he suspected construction was the trigger creating issues for a handful of Brahmas in certain areas of the building.
Smith said Walker, who has since found a home as an NFL backup the past four years, boasted many similar traits to what Garbers gives the Brahmas now. Garbers can deliver throws quickly and at various arm angles, Smith said, and his athleticism and rushing ability “kind of make the offense go to a different dynamic than someone who can’t do that.
