Republican George Santos is facing a number of accusations of lying over his background but retains his seat and has been appointed to House Committees IN WASHINGTON – By rights, George Santos – if that is his real name – should already be a former Republican Congressman. By any normal yardstick in any functioning democracy, he would either have resigned or been ousted after weeks of allegations revealing his seemingly limitless mendacity., the Republicans enjoy only a four-seat majority.
Mr Santos is accused of using at least nine names at various times during his life – possibly more, with numerous social media sites tracking his aliases. His biography is plagued with lies: he never attended the prestigious Horace Mann prep school in New York, nor did he secure a volleyball scholarship or any kind of place at Baruch College, the university from which he claims to have graduated.
