San Antonio FC cruises to U.S. Open Cup win against D’Feeters Kicks SC
D'Feeters Kicks SC plays San Antonio FC during a US Open Cup soccer match, Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Toyota Field in San Antonio, Texas. San Antonio FC rattled off three goals shortly after halftime to secure a 3-0 win against D’Feeters Kicks SC in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday at Toyota Field.
Facing an amateur club from Dallas, SAFC turned to a lineup with five academy products, resting a handful of usual starters. Henrik Sakshaug, a 17-year-old academy player, became the youngest in club history to score a brace, finding the back of the net in the 53rd and 57th minutes. Connor Maloney also tallied a goal in the 54th minute as SAFC led 3-0 before D’Feeters Kicks scored in the 61st.
San Antonio resumes USL Championship play when it travels to face Orange County SC at 9 p.m. Saturday.
