Ryanair passengers at East Midlands Airport urged to check flight as website will be down

Anyone travelling through Ryanair this month has been warned to check in early when its website is down for maintenance next week - or they could risk being charged extra fees. The airline which flies to more than 40 destinations from East Midlands Airport is set to undergo maintenance on its computer systems for an 11-hour period.

The airline has warned passengers that they’ll need to check their flights to ensure they can check in. The site and app will be down for an 11-hour period, from 6pm on November 8 and ending at 5am on November 9. Ryanair said that anyone flying to some of the most popular destinations from EMA - which includes Lanzarote, Barcelone, Dublin, Budapest, Roma and Palma will have to check in before the sites go down at 6pm on November 8. People who fail to check in online could potentially be charged £55 if their flight departs in less than two hours, or £30 for flights to Spain.

Some passengers voiced concerns on Twitter. Adrian Hanson said: “So @Ryanair are shutting down the website for 11 hours on 8/9th Nov meaning passengers will not have access to online check in during this period but they intend to charge if they check in at the airport. Why, when it is Ryanair’s fault? How can even Ryanair justify this?”
