Ryan Reynolds has a hilarious (and fake) reason as to why he's so mean to Hugh Jackman. 'I think it's pathetic and disgusting that he insists people call him 'The Greatest Showman' everywhere he goes.' 😂😂
Ryan Reynolds gives a hilarious reason for why he's so mean to Hugh Jackman all the time. Reynolds and Jackman have an ongoing fake feud that's been running for many years now, much to the delight of their respective fanbases. The two actors worked together on X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009, Jackman playing his iconic role of Wolverine and Reynolds playing an earlier, less-developed version of Deadpool. Reynolds stars in the two recently released movies, Free Guy and The Adam Project.
There are a number of reasons for the joke feud, the obvious one being that Reynolds and Jackman are good friends who like each other's sense of humor. When the standalone movie Deadpool aired in 2016, Reynolds created a wildly successful version of the red-clothed assassin with super healing abilities. Now that he had his own franchise similar to Jackman's long-running portrayals of Wolverine, Reynolds started teasing Jackman publicly, asking him to come make a Wolverine cameo.
"I know for a fact he's the one who named that movie ... 'The Greatest Showman.' Why not just call the movie Super Awesome Hugh Jackman? ... I think it's pathetic and disgusting that he called the movie that. And I think it's pathetic and disgusting that he insists people call him 'The Greatest Showman' everywhere he goes, including you, just young, impressionable kids. Goodness gracious.
Another aspect of the Wolverine/Deadpool feud is that both actors have been promoting their respective brands and businesses, particularly their sponsored beverage brands. Reynolds has promoted the product Aviation Gin, which he has ties to, and Jackman started the Laughing Man Coffee brand, which has a philanthropic arm aimed at reducing poverty.
The comedically self-aware nature of the character Deadpool makes him the perfect basis for an ongoing meta-feud that alternates off and on the screen. In the 2016 movie, Deadpool, that rebooted the character with Reynolds having much more creative control, old fans were delighted and new fans were surprised at how often Deadpool broke the fourth wall and talked directly to the audience.
