Rutgers landed an Iowa State transfer on Thursday.
Given the fact he is transferring for a second time without yet graduating, he will need to get a waiver from the NCAA in order to play next season. Based on a report fromlast month, which noted “the overwhelming majority of the second-time undergrad transfers thus far have been denied waivers,” it seems unlikely he will be granted one.
It is also unclear when Williams would be ready to return to the court at full capacity. He told NJ Advance Media last month that he was “feeling great” and expected to be back at full health to start the 2023-24 season, but he was “not 100%” yet.Rutgers marks the third school in four seasons for the Chicago native.
