E.ON, Europe's largest operator of energy networks, rejected demands to shut down the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline as part of sanctions against Russia for invading Ukraine, the company told the Rheinische Post newspaper Monday. "NATO membership would strengthen Finland’s security. As a member of NATO, Finland would strengthen the entire defense alliance," the leaders said in a joint statement.
