Ruby Franke, a popular 'momfluencer' whose YouTube channel detailed her family life with six children, has been sentenced to up to 60 years in prison for child abuse that one prosecutor described in court as 'concentration camp' conditions for her children. Millions of people followed the ups and downs of parenting with Franke, a Utah mom of six who created the popular channel “8 Passengers.
The woman with whom she made parenting advice videos, Jodi Hildebrandt, also pleaded guilty to child abuse and was given the same sentence of 4-60 years in prison. For years, viewers raised concerns about Franke’s controversial parenting methods, like 'cancelling' Christmas for two of her six children. Court documents have revealed that what went on behind the scenes was far worse than anything people saw on her YouTube channel.
