Inside the Royal Coronation roles including Kate's special message and Louis' carriage ride
The Coronation of King Charles will take place at Westminster Abbey in just under six weeks, and the final stage of planning is well underway with reports revealing which royals will take a prominent role in the historic ceremony.
This tradition began with Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen, the consort of King William IV, who had a new crown created for her 1830 coronation. Prince William As next in line to the throne, Prince William is likely to play a significant role in the Coronation, and according to the Sunday Times he will be the only one to pay homage to the King during the ceremony.
Kate Middleton As the Princess of Wales and a working royal, Kate Middleton will likely form part of the procession and make a balcony appearance alongside her husband. "A similar scenario for the Princess of Wales and her three children is likely" Tessa continued. "William and his offspring are next in line to the throne and coronations deliberately emphasise the order of precedence and succession.
Speaking to The Express, royal commentator Tom Quinn said: "I've heard from my contacts that there is a bit of an argument going on about whether George should play a more formal role. I've heard that Kate and William are worried that it will be too much for him." However if the Sussexes do attend, it's thought that as non-working royals they will not hold any official role within the proceedings, nor will they be a part of the procession.
"If you look at the footage of the 1953 Coronation, who was very prominent, albeit briefly? Prince Charles. He was four.
