On Monday, the activist shared a video of herself in the dress on Instagram and revealed that her gown was an homage to her famous see-through VMAs dress.
"Remind you of anything I've worn before? This was my way of doing a funny callback," she captioned the post. "Sometimes humor is essential. Dress by @designhouse.filiz video and voice by @youvegotnomale" In the video, a voice said, "ehhh, remind you of anything?" as McGowan did a twirl, revealing the criss-cross open back of the dress.A fan commented on McGowan's post and wrote, "You look stunning! Like the polar opposite of your VMA outfit in color scheme and hairstyle. Love this.
Earlier this year, McGowan said she wore the backless see-through gown at the VMAs because it was the first public appearance after being raped.
