Two researchers talk about the effects of social media on teenagers.
Psychologist Dr. Emily Weinstein and sociologist Dr. Carrie James were on hand for a Zoom call with parents and residents during a Town Hall for Rocky River Schools. Assistant Superintendent Elizabeth Anderson collected parents’ questions about students' social media use. ROCKY RIVER, Ohio -- Ever wonder about the effects of social media on adolescents? Rocky River parents got some answers Sept. 27 during a Town Hall meeting at the Beach School Professional Development Center in Rocky River.
There didn’t seem to be much good news about what teens are seeing online, beginning with pornography at about age 12. They urged Rocky River students to share with their parents all they see and do on social media. And parents should practice with their kids responses to what they may see and hear and to what they may be pressured into doing.
