The officer was placed on administrative leave Saturday after an investigation found that the officer was inappropriately behaving in his role as the resource officer at Rocky River High School, according to a statement from Superintendent Michael Shoaf.

The school was notified about the incident and the administration immediately contacted Rocky River police. The police department referred the incident to an independent investigator to review. While the investigation is still ongoing, Lichman said in his statement that the preliminary information shows the officer may have violated the Rocky River Police Department’s policy Lichman said, but did not detail further.
Rocky River police Officer Garth Selong will be the school’s interim resource officer, Shoaf says. Selong is a 23-year veteran of the police department.
