Brighton, N.Y. — The Rochester Friendship Festival kicked off Saturday to provide training to individuals with disabilities.

The event was held by the Rochester Ice Cats that brought special needs hockey teams from around the area to compete in the invitational. “We came out here, we had fun, we played hockey, we built friendships, and we had just a great time,” said Jeff Chopan, head coach of“Rochester Special Hockey, I think, is a unique program,” said Randall Trahan, board member, Rochester Ice Cats. “It’s not just about hockey, specifically about building life skills, friendships, and creating some discipline.”
“I’m just here to have some fun and just enjoy that with everybody,” said Michael Worvoys, hockey player, Rochester Ice Cats. “It’s about good sportsmanship and stuff like that.”
