Belbin is facing 45 charges, including murder

JOHN'S, N.L. — Robert Belbin, accused of second-degree murder and 44 other charges, made a short video appearance in provincial court from Her Majesty’s Penitentiary Monday, March 13.“I’m good, Your Honour, how about yourself?” Belbin replied.
Belbin had been scheduled to go to trial Feb. 23 on charges of aggravated assault and robbery with violence in connection with a stabbing on George Street in May 2022 that left a 22-year-old Paradise man injured. Since then, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary laid more charges against Belbin in connection with a string of violent events in the metro St. John’s region last year, including uttering threats, discharging a firearm and other firearms-related offences in relation to a shooting in the area of Galway on May 13, 2022.
