Speaker Pelosi: 'With the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act, we reaffirm America's commitment to democracy, human rights and the rule of law in the face of Beijing's crackdown.” The bills now go to the White House for Pres. Trump's signature.
An unknown number of protesters remain holed up inside Hong Kong’s Polytechnic University as riot police encircle the campus, which has been the site of violent clashes in recent days.
Since then, about a thousand demonstrators have left the campus, either surrendering to authorities or being caught while trying to escape.
