The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 will have an all-female directing team for its 8-episode run.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 announces its episode count as well as its new all-female directing team. The Rings of Power first premiered on Amazon on September 1, marking the first live-action adaption of J. R. R. Tolkien's works since Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. The series is loosely based on Tolkien's The Return of the King appendices and pieces together the history of Middle-earth's Second Age.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Now, The Rings of Power has officially announced its season 2 directing team, as well as its episode count. While J. A. Bayona and Wayne Che Yip made up the primary directors of season 1, season 2 will welcome an all-female directing team. Charlotte Brändström, who directed two episodes of season 1, has been promoted to lead director. She will be joined by newcomers to the franchise, Sanaa Hamri and Louise Hooper.
In addition to the eight new cast members, The Rings of Power season 2 will also be welcoming back a large chunk of its original cast from the first season. Just a few characters certain to return in the future are Galadriel , Sauron , Nori , Elrond , Gil-galad , The Stranger , King Durin III , and Isildur . The only cast members not expected to return are the likes of the Mystics and Sadoc Burrows who are presumed dead by the end of The Rings of Power's first season.
The Rings of Power season 2 is currently in production and its release date is unknown. However, the season likely won't be ready for release until early 2024. The Rings of Power is a big project with an enormous cast, and season 1 left the door open for many different plot lines to potentially be explored. However, the biggest plot point expected to be further explored is Sauron and the Rings of Power.
