Home Secretary Suella Braverman appears to have seen off the immediate threat of a Conservative rebellion over controversial laws to crack down on Channel boat crossings
force the Government to toughen up the Illegal Migration BillThe MPs want the legislation toughened up to allow the UK to ignore rulings from European judges that would block deportations, and to stop asylum seekers using domestic human rights laws to prevent removals.
It already contains provisions to allow Ms Braverman to in future ignore interim “rule 39” measures from the European Court of Human Rights , after such a ruling grounded UK’s first removal flight under its Rwanda deportation plan lats year.
