Rideshare drivers protesting outside City Hall in fight for better wages, safety conditions
Dozens of rideshare drivers rallied outside City Hall on Wednesday, with a few aldermen at their sides, calling for the city to require better wages and improved safety for the industry.
The Chicago Gig Alliance wants the City Council to take action on an ordinance that would not only set a minimum wage for Uber, Lyft, and other rideshare companies' drivers, put a cap on what the companies can take each ride, and limit surge pricing. Passengers also would be required to verify their identity in their rideshare app, to help improve safety.First published on September 21, 2022 / 5:00 AMCreate your free account or log inPlease enter valid email address to continue
