After lengthy discussion and two votes taken during meetings held Tuesday (Aug. 27), it turns out that Richmond Heights City Council will abide by its moratorium on dispensing adult-use recreational cannabis while continuing to seek public input.

Richmond Heights City Council, on Tuesday, held an unusual meeting. As power went out in the city, council carried on with a meeting held in the dark.RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Ohio -- After yet another lengthy discussion about the pros and cons of allowing the sale of adult-use recreational marijuana to take place within Richmond Heights, City Council is right back where it started -- with a citywide moratorium on cannabis business that will continue until Oct. 19.

Council approved the moratorium in April, but Ward 2 Councilman Asu Mook Robinson, believing that delaying a decision to allow the marijuana business to take place in the city was costing Richmond Heights potential tax money, sponsored an ordinance to end that moratorium. Robinson believes that tax money derived from the sales could be used to fund programs and undertakings that could benefit residents.
