Rice must beat North Texas State in season finale to get a sixth win and bowl bid

Turnovers plagued Rice’s offense, and Roadrunners quarterback Frank Harris had his way with the Rice defense on Saturday afternoon. In a mismatch, the Owls succumbed to visiting UTSA 41-7 inside Rice stadium, closing out the home portion of the Owls’ schedule.The Owls’ lone touchdown came in the first minute of the fourth quarter on a fourth-down 43-yard pass to Bradley Rozner from A.J. Padgett.
UTSA got an efficient performance from Harris, who ran for a 63-yard touchdown on the team’s second possession, directing an offense that scored the first 38 points before he was removed. Harris accounted for five touchdowns – three rushing, two passing. Coach Mike Bloomgren’s Owls were underdogs coming into their final home game as a member of C-USA. They remained competitive until the Roadrunners’ second series.
