The students say they were initially told by the school’s administration that they could not include a page in the yearbook honouring three students who had died
A yearbook memorial page for three students who died before they could graduate this year from Reynolds Secondary will be allowed to go ahead, after students launched an online petition.
But Greater Victoria School District deputy superintendent Harold Caldwell said the district is “absolutely” behind the students, and the page will go ahead. A counsellor from the district’s Critical Incident Response Team met with students Monday to discuss how to proceed. Students said they were instructed to obtain permission from all three families and to treat the issue sensitively. The students launched the petition last week after they were initially told they could not include the memorial page in the yearbook.
