Retiring Rep. Kevin Brady: Optimistic about Congress and undecided about Trump in 2024

Kevin Brady spent some of his final days in Congress locked in a bitter partisan battle over former President Donald Trump’s tax returns.Tax-cutting Rep.
But in a wide-ranging interview ahead of Brady’s retirement after 25 years in Congress, the Republican from The Woodlands was far less concerned about partisans, striking an optimistic tone about Congress and a “middle class” of lawmakers serious about tackling serious issues, rather than pursuing political wins.
I’m actually optimistic about this. Lawmakers — despite the image and narrative and the cruelty of social media — my absolute belief is there are so many more lawmakers who are trying to find solutions, do the right thing, make progress, than there are those who aren’t. I always sort of wish i could introduce America to the middle class, because I think they would have more confidence in the institution.
