Resurgence of carry trades is riddled with risk, says swahapattanaik:
Three-month implied volatility for dollar/yen, which is a measure of how much the exchange rate is expected to gyrate during this period, fell to 5.715 percent on March 6. That was its lowest since 2014 and down from 8.475 percent at the beginning of 2019.
Three-month euro/dollar volatility was at 5.98 percent on March 6, down from highs above 7 percent at the beginning of the year.
