Multiple agencies responded to a house fire in Hyde Park that was suspected to have been caused by electrical wiring.
Officials with the Smithfield City Fire Department said on Sunday afternoon that they believe it was accidental. “The homeowners were home, from what I was told, they were cooking something. The toaster went out, power went out to the toaster they could then smell smoke, they came outside saw smoke coming from the vents out of the roof,” Smithfield City Fire Department Assistant Chief Jeremy Hunt said.According to the North Park Police Department, the homeowners said that they had bought an electric vehicle and had placed a charger inside of the garage.
Officials are still investigation the exact cause of the fire, but they believe the electrical wiring is to blame.
