Residents of a far northeast Dallas apartment building were displaced from their homes late Tuesday after a fire engulfed the three-story structure and destroyed two dozen units, officials said. More than 60 firefighters responded to the fire just before 10 p.m. at the Forest Hills Apartments, in the 9600 block of Forest Lane, near Interstate 635.
The building had heavy flames billowing from the second floor when firefighters arrived, and the blaze quickly spread to the third floor, into the attic space and out the roof, Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said.
