The report lists the total cost of the gallery at $92.1 million; the city’s contribution is just under $40 million. Architecture49, at the time known as Smith Carter Architects and Engineers Inc., was selected in 2010 to design the gallery. Contractor EllisDon was awarded the contract for construction in 2013, and the buildingwith EllisDon over issues of cost and delay. The report notes “a number” of those claims have now been settled. The city still has claims outstanding with Architecture 49, and has also had to pay for some repairs that were not deemed to be the fault of the contractor or the architect.
