Chris Christie will announce his 2024 White House candidacy “in the coming days,” a New Hampshire news radio host reported.
Ryan’s report comes after months of speculation and a statement from Christie that he would make a final decision by mid-May.
“The New Jersey Republican sees himself as the only serious GOP candidate willing to take on former President Donald,” CNNat the time. “He also sees himself as a candidate who could appeal to enough independents to beat President Joe Biden in the general election, should Biden announce a reelection bid.”
Christie ran an unsuccessful presidential campaign in 2016 that saw him drop out after the New Hampshire primary, where he came in sixth place in a field that included nine candidates., Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis , who is widely expected to announce his campaign soon, has been polling in second place.
