In the tech industry many companies are frenemies and coopetitors: they collaborate in some things and compete in others. At Amazon's and Apple's size, they often can't help but do so. That competition hasn't always been friendly, with Amazon's iOS Kindle app not allowing on-platform purchases, and Apple suing Amazon over its"app store" name at one point.
