In Buffalo, and across recent years, Replacement Theorists have taken it upon themselves to stop people who they think are trying to ethnically replace them.
European descendants have long been the predominant population in America. The 2020 census revealed 62% of Americans identify as "white" only. Still the majority, but down 9% from the previous census in 2010. Meanwhile, the number of Americans who identify has multi-racial has nearly tripled.Believers of "replacement theory" see those numbers as an existential threat.
In 2017, nine people were killed at a historically black church in Charleston, North Carolina, by a 21-year-old man who told agents,""Well I had to do it because somebody had to do something because, you know, Black people are killing white people every day on the streets, and they rape white women, 100 white women a day," He contended that his crime was"so minuscule to what they’re doing to white people every day, all the time.
Also in 2019, one person was killed and three hurt at a synagogue by a 19-year-old shooter who called 911 on his own incident. His manifesto cited his Christian faith as his reason for killing Jews.
