Eugene “Buzzy” Peltola Jr., former regional director of the Bureau of Indian Affairs for Alaska, died early Wednesday, according to a statement from Peltola’s chief of staff.

U.S. Rep. Mary Peltola’s husband, Eugene “Buzzy” Peltola Jr., died early Wednesday morning after a plane crash in Alaska, according to a statement from her office.Few additional details were immediately available.of the Bureau of Indian Affairs for Alaska, serving in that position from 2017 to 2022. He had previously spent 34 years working in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Alaska.
