Emilia Sykes, a Democrat from Akron, on Monday asked the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate the Akron police department’s “patterns and practices” after its officers shot and killed DoorDash driver Jayland Walker last year.

“The APD’s use of force, opposition to transparency, and actions taken against citizens exercising their Constitutional right to protest suggest a culture unconducive to public safety,”to Attorney General Merrick Garland, saying she was shocked that Akron officers fired 94 rounds in 6.7 seconds.
