The BC Highway Patrol is searching for witnesses of a crash involving a speeding motorcycle that injured a police officer north of Duncan.

Investigators with the BC Highway Patrol Parksville are searching for any witnesses of a crash involving a speeding motorcycle that injured a police officer north of Duncan in early July.

“Due to public safety concerns, the officers did not pursue the motorcycle, however radioed ahead to their colleagues,” said RCMP in a release Tuesday. Police say the construction zone narrows traffic into one lane. In this one lane area, the motorcycle was allegedly seen overtaking vehicles once again.

The motorcycle did not stop, however, and instead accelerated, hitting the officer and knocking him onto the road, causing non-life-threatening injuries, according to RCMP.Police are reminding everyone to pull over if signaled by police.Sign up for the CHEK Now daily email newsletter to get breaking news and the day's top stories sent to your email.
