Mercedes has sold one of the two Uhlenhaut Coupe's in the world, donating the money to the Mercedes-Benz Fund which will fund university scholarships and school programs in environmental science and education.
announced today that it sold a 1955 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe, one of two in existence, for about $143 million.
Brüngger, who will direct the funds, added that environmental education is crucial for understanding society's modern problems and strengthening social cohesion. The Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe sold at auction was part of the non-public vehicle collection belonging to Mercedes- Benz Classic., comprising more than 1100 automobiles from the invention of the automobile in 1886 until today.The Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe made 298 horsepower and featured a five-speed manual transmission.
