'Kids on bikes would sort of surround me when I walked home, trying to steal my watch or whatever it might be'
Ranvir Singh has opened up about the racism she and her family faced as a child growing up in Preston. The popular presenter recalled seeing her father bullied in the street, people knocking off his turban and never using the front door because the windows were always broken.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4 this morning , the mum-of-one said: "Well it's quite interesting isn't it, because when you're young your world is quite small, so it consists of your lounge, your front room where the TV is and the kitchen where your mum's cooking, and the little walk to school and back.
"We never ever used the front door because the windows were always broken. I remember seeing people bully my dad in the street and knock his turban off. Kids on bikes would sort of surround me when I walked home, trying to steal my watch or whatever it might be. Just little things like that.
