Seven players with Sault ties were selected across the league in the 15-round OHL draft
In the end 302 players were selected across the league and for the Soo Greyhounds, there are high hopes for some of the 14 players they added through the annual Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.
“What we’re really excited about is we have a couple guys that have an opportunity to step in and bring impact to our lineup as soon as next year,” Raftis said. Raftis said the position breakdown wasn’t by position in a specific spot and more by the way the draft went and how the Greyhounds draft board was set up.
The Greyhounds then added Brady Smith, a centre from the Halton Hurricanes U16 team, in the fifth round. After the Sudbury Wolves made Hudson Chitaroni the first local player selected, taking the Soo Jr. Greyhounds forward in the third round on Friday night, six more Jr. Greyhounds players were selected on Saturday.Maguire split time this season with Maverick Fletcher in goal for the Jr. Greyhounds, picking up 12 wins in 13 appearances.
