The racing world has been praying for legendary NHRA driver John Force who was in a horrific crash during his run in Sunday’s Virginia Nationals.
The 75-year-old’s team provided an update on social media on Monday saying that Force remained in an intensive care unit at a Virginia hospital after what it called “a catastrophic engine failure that sent his Funny Car slamming into a concrete guardwall at 302 miles per hour.
“Attending doctors purposely were moving slowly in assessing the extent of the injuries to the Hall of Fame owner and driver because of the intensity of the impact,” the post continued. “Medical staff will not provide a treatment and recovery timetable until a total evaluation is completed.”The statement said that Force’s daughter, two-time world champion, Brittany, was at the hospital with him along with her mother and three sisters.
