LGBTQ+ PR and communications guru, Cathy Renna has spent decades entwined in the folds of queer history.
Renna has been the principal of her own firm, Target Cue, since 2013, and in the midst of this global pandemic, she is once again making history, this time helping the LGBTQ+ community find new ways to connect and make their voices count.
Many LGBTQ+ people feel isolated even in the best of times, but right now, Renna says, bringing the community together is more important than ever. There are people trapped in homes with those who don’t accept them, reliant on the media and the Internet to give them a place to feel loved. To be part of so much history, whether crises or celebrations, Renna says, is incredibly humbling. “I know how lucky I am,” she says, “To be able not just to do this work, but to have it be a business. I would have laughed in your face if you told me I was ever going to get paid for being an activist, never mind someday own my own business.”
