Qataris expecting to better Sir Jim Ratcliffe's bid as they make improved Man United offer MUFC
Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad bin Jaber Al Thani is the chairman of one of Qatar’s largest banks.United’s current owners, the Glazer family, have set an asking price of £6billion for theSheikh Jassim’s representatives held ten-hour talks with Old Trafford officials last Thursday, which included a presentation from United CEO Richard Arnold.Both parties have been asked to submit revised bids to conclude the second stage of the process.
However, there have been suggestions the American family will keep control of the club and seek minority investment after being underwhelmed by the opening bids. Elliott Investment Management are also through to the second stage, although the US hedge fund are not thought to be interested in a full purchase.
It remains to be seen if Sheikh Jassim or Ratcliffe will meet the Glazers’ £6bn valuation of the Red Devils – but the Qatari expects to better any amount the Brit can offer.
