A sitdown Q and A with OSEG CEO Mark Goudie and Redblacks/67\u0027s president Adrian Sciarra.
GOUDIE: “It was a trifecta of poop. We had a team that was struggling, it rained almost every game day and we had a global pandemic. Our owners are in this for the right reason, because this is important to Ottawa. So, they don’t sweat. When the sun comes out and the team starts winning games at home, which is going to be this year, and with the pandemic in the rear-view mirror, we’re going to be back to where we were.
GOUDIE: “You need emotional attachment. But when emotional attachment turns to apathy, that’s when you’ve got a problem. I hope we’re not there. Some of the calls I made, there are people that care so much, but were so devastated by what’s happened the past couple of years they’ve decided to take a year off to kind of recover. They were feeling the anxiety and pressure associated with us not being a winning team.
GOUDIE: “Last year, we saw the concourse in the south-side stands packed with 20-somethings, 30-somethings partying on. Throw some football into the mix and make sure the hardcore fans that live and breathe and die by each play are looked after.” SCIARRA: When it comes to music, there are a lot of different opinions, but we’ve heard feedback. When we look at music, where we probably have to focus is how do you give a bit of what everybody wants to hear? We have to find a better balance.”
