Pursuit that spans two counties and a bridge leads to arrest of two
A Richmond man suspected of driving a vehicle at a Contra Costa Sheriff’s deputy patrol car was arrested Wednesday after a pursuit that took him and a passenger from Richmond into Marin County, authorities said.
He also was booked on suspicion of recklessly evading a police officer; assault with a deadly weapon; burglary; and resisting arrest, according to authorities. In the Monday incident, the deputy had been pursuing the suspect in North Richmond, but ended the chase and pulled to the side of the road, Lee said. At that point, the suspect turned the vehicle around and sped directly at the vehicle with the deputy inside, narrowly missing it.Deputies tried to pull him over on the Richmond Parkway near San Pablo Avenue around 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday. Lee said the driver sped away, with deputies behind him.
The BMW took the E. Blithedale Avenue exit, then drove west toward downtown, police said. In the area of E. Blithedale and Locust Avenue, the BMW collided with a Tesla and then into a residential fence, police said.
