Greater Sudbury Police have not yet given any details about this incident

Greater Sudbury Police asked the public to avoid downtown Sudbury late last night after what they only termed an "incident' in the downtown.

The initial tweet about the incident was issued just after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night . "There is an increased police presence" in the downtown, said the tweet. However, just before 11 p.m., police said in a second tweet there was no immediate risk to public safety, and people were "welcome to attend downtown."The tweet said further information would be released on the incident "when possible."

Sudbury.com reached out to Greater Sudbury Police early Thursday to find out more about the nature of the March 8 downtown Sudbury incident, but our query has yet to be answered.
