Queen’s Park is earmarking $12-million for a number of projects aimed at helping people with criminal records find jobs or community connections.These programs have similar aims – to support people as they pick up skills and find and retain jobs in their communities.
“More than one million people in Ontario live with a criminal record, which can decrease the chances of a second interview by 50 per cent and drastically increases the likelihood of long-term poverty,” note officials. “Stable employment has been shown to help address the root causes of crime and reduce the likelihood of someone re-offending.”
