The fire risk appears low across the bulk of the Northeast Fire Region, according to the province’s latest update on Friday evening.
Moderate risks remain north of Sault Ste. Marie and around Espanola, Burwash, and the northeastern part of Algonquin Provincial Park. As of late Friday afternoon, there were 34 active wildland fires in the Northeast Region, of which two were under control, one is not under control, and 31 were being observed.One wildland fire of note for the Northeast Region is:
It’s currently clear skies in the Greater Sudbury area this weekend, with an Air Quality Index rating of one, the lowest ranking available, as of 11 a.m. To report a wildland fire located north of the French and Mattawa rivers, phone 310-FIRE. To report a forest fire located south of the French or Mattawa rivers, phone 911.
