In the heart of Beirut's manicured downtown, something is stirring in a bullet-pocked concrete shell of a building known as "the Egg".Bullet marks and a graffiti reading "Revolution" can be seen on the exterior of the Egg.
Then two weeks ago, protesters started pouring into the streets, raging against the political elite and reclaiming unloved corners of their capital.Demonstrators walked into the echoing hall and started staging impromptu parties, photo shoots, lectures.22 Oct 2019"When they opened it ... there was a very negative response, it did not fit in with the rest of the city," said Salim Adib, 60, who had never been inside before..
