Prosecutors in the Kouri Richins murder case have asked the judge to compel her divorce attorney to come forward with new information.
Kouri Richins , a Utah mother of three who authorities say fatally poisoned her husband then wrote a children's book about grieving, looks on during a bail hearing Monday, June 12, 2023, in Park City, Utah. A judge ruled to keep her in custody for the duration of her trial.
The prosecutors claimed the communications between Kouri Richins and the divorce attorney are relevant to the state’s case by establishing Richins’ state of mind and a possible motive for the alleged murder. Former prosecutor Nathan Evershed, who is not connected to the case, said prosecutors will have a hard time convincing the judge this information is worth breaking attorney/client privilege.
