CBC employees discovered their sexual orientation, religion and othe details in HR files after filling out a confidential diversity survey.
CBC spokesperson Leon Mar said that the Crown corporation would “of course cooperate” if the commissioner determined “further action is necessary.”
“Employee files should only contain necessary information and organizations should be fully transparent about how that information is to be used,” Pilieci said. Nowhere in the “cultural census” emails seen by the Post was it mentioned that the data would be linked to individual employees and placed in their HR file.Article content
In response to staff complaints, and following the National Post story, he said CBC updated information on its intranet about the self-identification questionnaire in Workday and “communicated clearly to employees” about the cultural census.Article content
