The trio, who are physical training instructors at the Saughton nick, are believed to have battered the 24-year-old prisoner in his cell in early September 2022.
The extent of the convict's injuries are not yet known, nor is the crime he is serving time for. Police Scotland have launched a probe into the attack. The Scottish Prison Service declined to comment on the incident but insisted any violence within their institutions is "completely unacceptable".
