About 20,000 soak up the vibe in Oceanside as Pride Month kicks off with an event meant to highlights the work done year-round at the North County LGBTQ Resource Center
Pride month kicked off in the San Diego area Saturday with revelers taking in flavorful food, live music and kinetic dance performances at Pride By The Beach in Oceanside — the first of many events and festivals scheduled to celebrate the LGBTQ community throughout the county in the coming weeks.
In its 17th year, Pride By The Beach has been designed to evoke a family-friendly vibe. 'We have a lot of parents who come and bring their kids, and their kids are just recently coming out,' said Roxanne Deatherage, the event's director. 'The parents are trying their best by being supportive, but they don't even know where to start.
