Donald Trump has resisted wearing a face mask in public but told a television reporter on Wednesday he's open to wearing one in "a tight situation."
WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump showed up at a White House news conference on Thursday without a face mask, just one day after saying he'd be open to wearing them in certain situations.
But Trump told Fox Business Network he’d wear one if he found himself in a crowd where social distancing wasn’t possible. “If I were in a tight situation with people, I would absolutely,” he said. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who took the podium with White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow after Trump finished speaking, noted that he and Kudlow were not wearing a face mask because both of them had been given a coronavirus test Thursday morning.
“I sort of liked the way it looked,” he said. “It was a dark black mask, and I thought it looked OK. It looked like the Lone Ranger.”
