Trump's visit has been resisted by senior politicians in both Dayton and El Paso.

: Donald Trump, who has been accused of “encouraging white nationalism” in recent days, is to be greeted by protests as he visits the sites of mass shootings in Texas and Ohio over the weekend which killed 31 people. Twenty-two of the victims in El Paso were killed by a gunman who posted a white supremacist manifesto to 8chan targeting the Hispanic community.

Several key Democrats have blamed Trump’s rhetoric for fuelling the violence, including Rep. Maxine Waters, who said escalating killings in the U.S. were “motivated by Trump’s race baiting.” Cory Booker, told CNN’s State of the Union that Trump was responsible for the shooting, which authorities are treating as domestic terrorism.”

Trump will also visit Dayton, Ohio, where nine people were killed by a gunman on Sunday in the downtown district. Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley has said she is: “I will not be used as an accessory to his visit,” El Paso Congresswoman Veronica Escobar told“I refuse to join without a dialogue about the pain his racist and hateful words and actions have caused our community and country.”
